Then the stalks are broken down and eventually steam distilled to extract the essential oil. The main chemical constituents of doTERRA Ginger essential oil are α-zingiberene and beta-sesquiphellandrene which sooth the stomach, aid in digestion and fight inflammation.

An easy way to take dōTERRA Ginger essential oil internally is with a dōTERRA Veggie Cap. You open the capsule, add 2 drops Ginger, close the cap and swallow with water. Take a Ginger Veggie Cap after a heavy meal or before a big work out, if you are feeling bloated.

In a study conducted by researchers from India, the effects of ginger and turmeric essential oils on gastric mucosa were examined to identify any possible gastroprotective benefits.

After administration of both essential oils simultaneously, the researchers found that cellular levels of antioxidant enzymes increased significantly. In addition, they found that the gastric tissue exposed to ginger and turmeric essential oils showed a better state of health compared to those tissues not exposed.

They proposed that the increase in antioxidant enzymes was what helped prevent gastric damage, thereby maintaining better health of gastric tissues. Wow! I hope the research continues and the medical community will start suggesting natural options to support our gut health! 1

Vegan Thai Green Curry

I am the type of cook that doesn’t use a recipe and just wings it. So I apologize for the loose instructions.

1) Sauté 5-10 cloves of garlic and shallots to taste, in oil or vegan butter.  I use A LOT of garlic in almost every recipe I cook!

2) Add any veggies you have on hand and sauté until soft. I usually use broccoli, carrots and onion.

3) Add any dry or fresh seasonings you want, such as ginger, basil, onion powder etc.

4) Add coconut milk and green chilies to taste. Let simmer for 15 minutes.

5) Add essential oil at the end, for the most flavor.

Mixology

One of my favorite ways to use dōTERRA Ginger essential oil is in one of my favorite drinks… the Essential Mule! The original Moscow Mule instantly became my go to cocktail after the first try. It is concocted of vodka, lime and ginger beer. In the Essential Mule, I substitute sparkling water for ginger beer and add Ginger and Lime essential oils. Delicious and convenient, that’s my kinda style!
