Do you have essential oils but your not sure how to use them? There are 3 practical ways to use essential oils safely.
- Aromatically
- Topically
- Internally
Aromatically: There are a few ways you can use essential oils aromatically. My favorite way is diffusing. I am sure you have heard about diffusers by now but in case you have not, here is the run down. A diffuser is a machine that puts water and essential oil mist into the air. You simply add water to the limit line in your diffuser, add 6-15 drops of oil depending on the size of your diffuser and voila! You have an all natural air freshener. Diffusing essential oils can purify the air but it is also a great way to get emotional benefits from essential oils. Another way to use essential oils aromatically is to simply smell them out of the bottle or put a drop in your hand and inhale deeply. You can also get aromatic benefits of essential oils by applying them topically to the body and smelling all the benefits!
Topically: There are two ways to apply essential oils topically. The first is neat, meaning just the oil without any other substance. The second is diluted with a carrier oil. Although I do apply some oils neat, for the most part I dilute my essential oils before applying them. The benefits of essential oils absorb into the skin and can reach the bodies systems more quickly when applied with a carrier oil. Some common carrier oils are coconut oil, fractionated coconut oil (stays thin in any temperature), almond oil, jojoba oil and olive oil. I like to make roller ball blends of essential oils and fractionated coconut oil so that I can apply them quickly and easily. Check out this post to learn how to make a roller ball!
Internally: First off, doTERRA essential oils are the Only brand that I recommend you ingest. And only some of doTERRA’s essential oils are safe to ingest due to the chemical make up of the plant itself. If an oil is safe to ingest then there will be a supplemental facts label on the bottle. Oils can be detoxing and cleansing when taken internally. Some can soothe the stomach and digestive system, support our immunity and even our cells!
