15 Ways to Use Tea Tree Essential Oil
Tea Tree essential oil is probably my favorite and most used oil. You may have also heard Tea Tree called Melaleuca because it comes from the Melaleuca plant, originally from Australia. It is most famous for its cleansing properties but it actually contains 92 different compounds, making it a very diverse oil!
15 of my favorite ways to use Tea Tree essential oil:
- Clean Cuts and Scrapes
The number one way I use Tea Tree is to clean the skin, in whatever way necessary. Tea Tree oil is a staple in my all natural first aid kit! The easiest way to clean up a scrape or cut is to put a drop on or near the affected area and then spread the oil around with the q-tip. The oil will cleanse the skin and help speed up the healing process.
- Yoga Matt Cleaner
In a 4oz spray bottle, add 10 drops Tea Tree oil and top it off with distilled water. Simply shake and spray on your yoga mat before and after your practice. - Makeup Brush Cleaner
Mix 2 tbsp of fractionated coconut oil and 10 drops of Tea Tree oil. Swirl the makeup brush in the oil mixture for 30 seconds and then rinse thoroughly. - Multi-purpose Cleaner
Mix 1 cup of water, 1/2 cup vinegar and 10 drops of Tea Tree oil in a small spray bottle. You can use this mixture to clean countertops, sinks, tubs and floors. - Piercing Cleaner
Add 2 tbsp of water and 3 drops of Tea Tree oil to a small bowl. Dip a cotton ball into the mixture and squeeze out over piercing. Cleaning piercings on a regular basis can help prevent infection. - Anti fungal Plant Spray
In a 16oz spray bottle, add 15 drops of Tea Tree oil and top off with distilled water. Spray this mixture on your plants to help prevent fungus from growing. - Reusable Makeup Removing Wipes
Mix 1 cup distilled water, 15 drops of Tea Tree oil, 2 Tbsp fractionated coconut oil and 2 Tbsp of witch hazel, in a glass jar. Next, cut up cotton cloth into small square pieces. submerge the cloth pieces into the liquid mixture. Use one piece of cotton to remove your makeup and clean your face. - Anti Irritation Cream
Many women have experience the uncomfortable situation of excess yeast, which can lead to irritation and discomfort. I use this recipe to help relieve discomfort during these times. Mix 2 Tbsp coconut oil and 20 drops Tea Tree oil together in a small glass bowl. You can use this mixture externally on irritated areas. - Dry Scalp Spray
In a 4oz glass spray bottle, mix 10 drops Tea Tree oil, 10 drops Lemongrass oil and 8 drops Peppermint oil and top off with distilled water. Spray mixture on the roots before bed. This mixture does make your hair greasy so I wash my hair in the morning. - Facial Spot Treatment
In a 10ml rollerball bottle, add 25 drops Tea Tree oil and top off with fractionated coconut oil. Roll on needed spots before bed to help reduce blemishes. - Fruit and Veggie Spray
In a 4oz glass spray bottle, mix 5 drops Tea Tree oil, 2 Tbsp vinegar and top off with distilled water. Spray fruits and veggies with the mixture and then rinse before you eat. - Immunity Roller
In a 10ml rollerball bottle, add 25 drops Tea Tree oil and top off with fractionated coconut oil. Roll on the bottoms of your feet daily, before bed. This will help boost your immune system. - Healthy Feet and Shoe Spray
This spray will help keep your feet healthy and irritation free! It will also help keep your shoes odor free! Add 25 drops Tea Tree oil and 2 tbsp witch hazel to a 4oz glass spray bottle and top off with distilled water. Shake and spray on your feet and in your shoes daily. - Natural Deodorant
Apply Tea Tree oil neat (undiluted) onto your pits and then roll a natural deodorant overtop. Tea Tree oil with provide extra odor protection! This is a great method to reduce strong body odor! - Razor After Shave
Add 4 Tbsp fractionated coconut oil, 2 Tbsp rose water, 10 drops Tea Tree oil and 10 drops Lavender oil to a 4oz glass spray bottle. Shake and spray on recently shaved area.
